What is urinary incontinence?

It is an uncontrollable loss of urine. The amount may differ, depending upon severity, from 1 or 2 drops of urine up to large volumes.

It may occur when coughing, laughing, sneezing or during physical activity. It may or may not include an urge to urinate.

How common is urinary incontinence?

It affects over 50% of women at some stage in their life. While it is common, it’s not normal and can lead to:

  • restriction in lifestyle
  • embarrassment
  • further problems and risks, especially as we grow older.
